Command-Line Tools¶
Some jobs are best done from a command line: setting a credential, checking a configuration, preparing evidence for a security review, or running a procedure the same way every time. VirtualForge has two command-line programs, for two different places:
| Program | Runs on | Does | Who uses it |
|---|---|---|---|
| vf-agent | The Seeq agent host | Manages the credentials EEI connectors use to sign in to your source systems; more jobs to follow | You. It comes with EEI connectors for Seeq, starting with ABB Knowledge Manager |
| vf | EEI's systems | Operates the platform: accounts, entitlements and licenses, releases, deployment records, data services | EEI. It is not installed at your site |
vf-agent is part of the products: it is installed with them, and is not sold, licensed or installed
separately. vf is EEI's own tool; its page explains what it is and where it is going, so you know
what EEI is running on your behalf.
Every vf-agent command works the same way: it shows what it will change, asks before removing or
replacing anything, never shows a password, and ends with a PASS/FAIL summary. vf follows the same
habits where it matters most, in licensing.
