Double Agent Connector for Seeq¶
Double Agent is Endeavor Engineering's latest connector. It opens up use cases where the Seeq Agent is in the ideal position to do work for Seeq inside its own environment: close to the data and the logic that must stay there, over the agent's existing secure, outbound connection, with carefully specified capabilities in that environment.
It is intentionally a flexible framework. Seeq sends a request; the agent runs only work defined on its side; the result comes back to Seeq as data you can trend, analyze and share like any other signal. The work itself is a plugin: your logic, built against a published interface and kept in your own source control.
Available now; the work it does is built to your requirements, as plugins. General capabilities will be added as they become clear.
What it provides¶
- Plugins: your logic, on your side. Each plugin provides named actions, built by your team or by Endeavor Engineering and installed on the agent's host. Endeavor Engineering ships and licenses the framework; the logic, and the data it uses, stay with you. See Plugins.
- Work where the data is. A request from Seeq is answered on the agent's host, with the agent's access to its own environment and to your Seeq server.
- Nothing connects inward. Requests travel over the Seeq Agent's existing outbound connection. No inbound firewall rule is needed.
- Only approved work runs. A request can only select an action an installed plugin provides; no free-form commands or queries come from Seeq.
- Live context. Each request reads what it needs from Seeq at that moment: change a property in Seeq, and the next request sees it.
- Results organized in Seeq. Results can be filed in an asset tree that follows the requests, so people find them where they expect.
Where it fits¶
Double Agent suits work that must run on the agent's side of a network boundary: for example a calculation the site has approved and controls, a lookup against a reference that exists only locally, or a check that only the site may run. Each use is shaped with you; what it does is what its plugins do.
